There are a whole host of different film festivals that take place throughout the year and it is always interesting to see how the movies on show fare in the future. the Toronto International Film Festival took place back in September and one of the movies that premiered there has now had its US rights bought, which will lead to an official release date being announced fairly soon.

That movie is the Missy Peregrym starring movie Backcountry, which clearly did enough to impress the right people, with the US rights being acquired by IFC Midnight earlier in the month. Missy and the rest of the cast and crew will now be looking forward to seeing when Backcountry will get its official release date.
For those of you wanting to know more about the movie, Backcountry centres around a beautiful young woman who is taking a break from her hectic executive job, to spend some time with her boyfriend on a camping trip. The couple have a rather unsettling encounter with a stranger and decide to take a detour, which leads to them getting lost and leaving them at the mercy of the wilderness and the dangerous animals that live there.
As well as starring Missy Peregrym, the rest of the cast of Backcountry includes the likes of Eric Balfour, Nicholas Campbell, Jeff Roop, Melanie Mullen, and Ashley Nay, among others. Backcountry is directed by Adam MacDonald, based on the script that he developed himself, with the movie set for US distribution by IFC Midnight and an official release date expected for some time in 2015.
